Cape York "Frontier"

Travelling to Cape York is a "must" for every respectful Australian and it is a treat for every visitor from overseas who wants to experience the beauty of the Northern Outback and rainforest. This particular tour is accommodated all nights and suited for people of all ages.

Cape York Area 7 Day Drive/Fly Accommodated Safari

  • Day 1 (LD) The World Heritage listed Daintree rainforest and, weather permitting, Cape Tribulation and the Bloomfield Track. Visit the quaint Lion's Den Hotel and eerie Black Mountain on the way to historic Cooktown. Walk where Captain Cook walked and enjoy Grassy Hill's spectacular views on a tour of Cooktown where we stay tonight.
  • Day 2 (BLD) Over the ranges on the Battlecamp Road to Lakefield National Park. Waterlily covered billabongs, wildlife and a great variety of birdlife. We stay at Lotus Bird Lodge tonight.
  • Day 3 (BLD) Across the Great Dividing Range to visit the old gold mining town of Coen. On to Archer River and across Piccaninny Plains to Weipa on the Gulf of Carpentaria. We stay in Weipa tonight.
  • termite moundDay 4 (BLD) A chance to tour Weipa's mine or enjoy a half-day fishing (both optional). After lunch we travel through Batavia Downs en-route to the Wenlock River, site of the historic Moreton Telegraph Office. We overnight at Moreton's permanent tent safari camp.
  • Day 5 (BLD) 4WD adventure and fun on the famous Telegraph Track. Lunch at picturesque Fruit Bat Falls and a great chance to swim in its pristine spring fed waters. Across the mighty Jardine River to Punsand Bay Safari & Fishing Lodge on the tropical shores of Torres Strait, our home for two balmy nights.
  • Day 6 (BLD) Visit the beautiful Lockerbie Scrub, an isolated pocket of monsoon rainforest, on our way to historic Somerset. After lunch an emotional walk to the very top of mainland Australia, CAPE YORK!
  • Day 7 (B) All aboard to cruise to Thursday Island and enjoy a guided tour of the island (included). After lunch (own expense today) transfer by ferry to Horn Island to board your aircraft to fly over the Great Barrier Reef to Cairns, ending you fascinating safari of adventure and discovery in Australia's far north.

Reverse Itinerary

The tour is also offering a reverse itinerary (Fly/Drive) where you fly up first and meet the safari on the Cape York Peninsula:

  • Day 1 (D) Fly to Horn Island then transfer to Thursday Island and enjoy a guided tour of the island (included). After lunch (own expense) cruise to Punsand Bay Safari & Resort Bamaga, your home for two balmy nights.
  • Day 2 (BLD) Visit the Lockerbie Scrub and historic Somerset. Now, an emotional walk to the very top of mainland Australia, CAPE YORK!
  • Day 3 (BLD) Cross the Jardine River then 4WD adventure and fun on the famous Telegraph Track. Fruit Bat Falls to lunch and swim then on through Cape York's unique wilderness to the Wenlock River to overnight at Moreton's permanent tent safari camp.
  • Day 4 (BLD) On to Weipa on the Gulf of Carpentaria. Tour Weipa's mine or enjoy a half-day fishing (both optional). Overnight in Weipa.
  • Day 5 (BLD) The Archer River and Coen on the way to Musgrave Station where we stay tonight.
  • Day 6 (BLD) Lakefield National Park's waterlily covered billabongs, wildlife and great variety of birdlife before the Battlecamp Road to Cooktown, our overnight stop.
  • Day 7 (BL) A guided tour of Cooktown. Black Mountain and the Lion's Den Hotel before the Bloomfield Track, weather permitting. The Daintree Rainforest before returning to Port Douglas and Cairns.
