Itinerary
Star
Dancer operates 7 to 10 night itineraries out of Walindi
Plantation Resort, Kimbe Bay, home to some of the healthiest
and most pristine reef systems on this planet. Most trips
cruise off the New Britain coastline into the Bismark Sea,
visiting the Witu Islands and Father's Reef areas along
with the many fabulous dive sites of Kimbe Bay.
The topography in this region is of an extremely volcanic
nature both above and below the water surface. Consequently,
most dive sites take the form of sea-mounts rising deep
from the seabed, sometimes up to just 5 meters below the
surface. The dive sites in the area are generally teeming
with a hugely diverse range of marine life and the soft
coral growth is awesome - an array of colours and textures.
Claims that this area is the soft coral "capital"
of the world are not unreasonable and there's something
here for everyone.
South Britain Excursions
From January to March each year, Star Dancer offers
exciting 10 night excursions to the truly remote and largely
unexplored south coast of New Britain which enjoys it's
dry season from January to March whilst monsoon conditions
are usually expected on the north coast making it one of
the South Pacific's most unique diving destinations at this
time of year. These excursions start and finish in Rabaul.
