If diving has a similar effect on you like it has on us,
your interest in marine life and in preserving it for future
generations to come will have been sparked. The challenges
to maintain healthy reef environments are immmense and there
are a number of very dedicated organisations who are doing
their best to make a difference.
At
DIVERSION DIVE TRAVEL we have created the

small but significant efforts by individuals and organisations.

Australia
Australian
Marine Conservation Society. Very active in establishment
of marine parks and publicity campaigns about sustainable
use of resources
NPA
Marine The National Parks Association of New South
Wales has a very active Marine section with lots of small
but effective programmes.
CRC
Reef Research Centre The research authority in Australia
on reef and rainforest issues.
The
Oceania Project: This Australian project is about
caring for Whales, Dolphins & the Oceans - You can participate
in the Annual Whale Research Expedition as an Eco-Volunteer.
Save
the Ningaloo Reef (Western Australia): Learn about
a controversial resort which is planned on the coast in
the desert.
Reefcheck
Australia assists with education and monitoring
reef health using volunteers and professional assistance.
International
The
Coral Reef Alliance: They have a lot of fantastic
projects to keep coral reefs worldwide alive and do many
more projects to protect marine life.
The
Greenlife Society: They are based in the Andaman
Sea. They work on environmental and human related issues
to preserve the natural balance between humans and nature.
They focus mainly on animal conservation. Diversion Dive
Travel did sponser their boat which was destroyed during
the tsunami.
Blue
Planet Challenge: The web page of the BBC documentary.
The
ECOCEAN Whale Shark Photo-identification Library is
a visual database of whale shark (Rhincodon typus) encounters
and of individually catalogued whale sharks. The library
is maintained and used by marine biologists to collect and
analyse whale shark encounter data to learn more about these
amazing creatures.

Photobank This site has been established to provide
a way for photographers to contribute high-quality images
of threats to our marine world to enable non-governmental
organizations and government agencies to use these pictures,
royalty free, to educate the public.

Response is a very active lobby group which targets specific
